Pamela Shaw, a beloved local children’s dentist, is originally from New York, but has lived in New Orleans since 1991. She opened her practice–Pamela Shaw DDS Dentistry for Children–in 1993. When asked to describe her practice, Dr. Shaw said, “We specialize in taking care of your children’s dental needs in a unique and comfortable space. We strive to help children have a healthy smile for their lifetime.”

Why do you love owning a business in NOLA? New Orleans has allowed me to have a quality practice while also allowing me to enjoy a city with an amazing diversity of culture!
What’s your favorite NOLA neighborhood to live in? I love many neighborhoods, from Uptown to Mid City, the Quarter, Lakeview and Old Metairie. [So do the Nerds…you can find us everywhere!]
What’s your favorite shopping area of NOLA? Metairie Road and Magazine Street–I like to shop locally.
Mardi Gras or Jazz Fest: Mardi Gras. I ride in Muses.
Favorite Snoball Stand: Sal’s
New red, or traditional green, streetcars? Traditional green
Saints or Pelicans? Saints
Favorite NOLA athlete: The Manning Boys
Favorite local music venue: Frenchmen Street
Favorite NOLA restaurant: So many! Vegas and Bayonna are 2 of my favorites.
Café du Monde or Morning Call: Cafe du Monde
An ideal NOLA weekend: Brunch at Achafalaya, wandering the quarter and then dinner at Bayonna’s in the courtyard–all with close friends.
What tech device could you not live without? iPad
Favorite mobile app(s): My office app. I can talk to a patient and look up their information while I’m anywhere in the world. [We think that’s really cool!]
Favorite website(s) for fun: TripAdvisor–my husband and I like to travel.

Anything new for you and/or your business in 2014? The office staff and I like to follow the most recent information on taking care of children’s dental needs. The office has embraced the electronic world. With the consent of parents we can email X-rays and records easily to you or another provider with the click of a button.
