Change Is in the Air

Growth demands a temporary surrender of security. Gail Sheehy

Rent-A-Nerd, Inc. has been growing and evolving ever since the day it was founded by Darrin Piotrowski in 1997. We have embraced this growth, but we haven’t always been the best at reflecting it. So now we are surrendering the security of our beloved identity: Rent-A-Nerd, Inc. and are rebranding! Our new name is Courant (pronounced “current”). And our tagline is “Keep IT Current.” Courant: Keep IT Current.

What? After all of these years? And why?

For at least a year, maybe longer, Darrin has realized that our brand name didn’t reflect who we are. “Rent” implies temporary. “Nerd” is so limiting. Our technicians are much more than nerds (they ARE nerds, don’t get me wrong). We are a firm of professionals and we partner long-term with our clients. And while we started as a couple of tech nerds fixing home computers, we now solely provide business to business IT services.

We really wanted to keep some elements of our former identity. People know and love us. Our name is catchy and our reputation is stellar. We thought perhaps we could keep some aspect of our name–and we did! CouRANt. Get it?

What does Courant mean?

Our tagline is a hint. Keep IT Current. Our message is that we have modern solutions for your business technology and communications needs.

The name is also a slight nod to the Mississippi River current. So much of our economy relies on our river. We can even see the Crescent City Connection from our office. And many of our clients are in the maritime industry. So we are very grateful for the river’s current.

What’s the big deal?

Truthfully, nothing will change for our clients. We’ll still be the same team you’ve grown to rely on for years. We’re still in our same office in the Tulane Avenue biomedical district. Some of us still wear nerdy glasses. We’re even keeping our fun orange and gray color scheme.

But with our new name comes a new logo and a new look. We’ll unveil our new website in the coming months. In the meantime, we’re switching over our brand on some of the tools that we use. So you may see icons with the Courant name. It’s still us!

So help us get the word out. Courant: Keep IT Current.
